Ready to wet a line and see what's biting? Our 4-hour inshore trip is perfect for anglers looking to squeeze in some quality fishing without eating up the whole day. We'll zip out to some prime spots where the fish are hungry and the action is hot. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting your feet wet, Captain Sonny knows how to put you on the fish and make sure you have a blast doing it.
Meet us at Mulligans restaurant parking lot, where your adventure begins. Once you find the white gate on the left side of the restaurant, follow the dock down to slip #34. That's where Captain Sonny will be waiting with a fully-rigged boat ready to chase some fins. We keep our groups small - just 3 guests max - so you'll get plenty of personal attention and room to cast. While we don't provide meals, feel free to bring some snacks to keep your energy up. The fishing grounds are close, so we'll spend more time with lines in the water than running between spots.
Inshore fishing around here is all about reading the water and knowing where the fish like to hang out. We might start by tossing live bait around mangrove shorelines for snook, or dropping jigs near bridge pilings for sheepshead. If the tide's right, we could hit some grass flats to sight-cast for tailing redfish. And don't be surprised if we stumble upon a school of black grouper hugging a deep channel edge. Captain Sonny's got a few secret spots up his sleeve, and he'll adjust tactics based on what's biting that day. We use light tackle that's easy to handle but still gives you a good fight when a big one hits.

Snook: These hard-fighting linesiders are a local favorite. They love to ambush prey around structure, so we'll target them near mangroves, docks, and bridge pilings. Snook put up an acrobatic fight and are known for their wily nature - landing a big one is always a thrill. Spring and fall are prime seasons when they're feeding aggressively.
Sheepshead: Don't let their goofy teeth fool you - these striped battlers are tough customers. We find them around oyster bars, pilings, and rocky areas where they feed on crustaceans. Light tackle and a delicate touch are key to hooking these bait-stealers. Winter is the best time to target big sheepshead as they gather to spawn.
Redfish: Also known as red drum, these copper-colored bruisers are fun to catch and great to eat. We often spot them tailing in shallow water, their spotted tails waving above the surface as they root for crabs and shrimp. Fall is prime time for big bull reds, but we catch them year-round. Nothing beats the visual excitement of sight-casting to a tailing redfish!
Black Grouper: While more common offshore, we sometimes find juvenile black grouper in deeper inshore areas. They love structure and put up a stubborn fight, trying to dive back to their hidey-holes. Landing one of these tasty bottom-dwellers is always a bonus on an inshore trip. We target them with live bait or jigs worked near deep channel edges or artificial reefs.
Our 4-hour inshore trips fill up fast, especially during peak seasons. Whether you're looking to bend a rod, learn some new techniques, or just enjoy a day on the water, Captain Sonny will make sure you have a great time. Remember to check out our cancellation policy when you book - we want to make sure you're all set for a fantastic day of fishing. So grab your hat and sunscreen, and let's go catch some fish!

Capt. Sonny was not pleasant to my family. I know the weather was not good and it seemed like he did not want to be out fishing that day. He has to remember that not everyone is a pro fisherperson. The first mate was nice at least. I really feel bad that my family came down to visit and the experience was not good. I will not be using him again.

Embarked on a trip with Captain Sonny, accompanied by three adults and three kids, five of whom had limited fishing experience. Captain Sonny displayed remarkable patience, expertly untangling lines and baiting hooks. He never showed any signs of frustration, ensuring we not only found fish but also ensured everyone had an enjoyable time. Highly recommended!

Sonny was a great host and great company. Our fishing spots were limited as there was a lot of wind that day. Still, Sonny put us on fish and made sure it was a great experience for us. If you're thinking about booking a trip, definitely do it. You will really enjoy yourself.

Black grouper are heavyweight champions of the reef, known for their sheer power and excellent table fare. Most run 10-30 pounds, but they can top 100 pounds. You'll find them lurking around deep reefs and wrecks in 60-250 feet of water. Spring and fall are prime as they move shallower. Grouper fishing is all about the initial run - once hooked, they'll bolt for their rocky lairs. Heavy tackle is a must. For best results, drop large live baits like pinfish or blue runners near structure. Be ready to crank hard as soon as you feel the bite. One local trick is to use a hand-crank reel for more leverage in the initial fight. It's a true test of angler vs. fish, and the reward is some of the best-eating fillets in the ocean.

Redfish are a favorite inshore species, known for their copper color and characteristic tail spot. Most run 20-30 inches, but bulls over 40 inches aren't uncommon. You'll find them tailing in shallow grass flats or cruising mangrove shorelines, often in less than 2 feet of water. Fall and winter are prime as they school up. Reds put up a great fight on light tackle and are excellent eating too. They're not picky eaters - try live shrimp, cut mullet, or scented soft plastics. One local trick is to look for pushes of water or mud boils in super skinny water on high tides. Reds often give themselves away while rooting for crabs. Approach quietly and make accurate casts - the bite can be explosive. Nothing beats sight-fishing a tailing red in gin-clear water.

Sheepshead are crafty, structure-loving fish that'll test your skills. They typically run 2-4 pounds but can reach 10+ pounds. Look for their distinctive black and white stripes around docks, pilings, and oyster bars in 5-15 feet of water. Winter and early spring are prime as they school up to spawn. Sheepshead are prized for their sweet, white meat, but they're notoriously tricky to hook. They've got human-like teeth perfect for crushing crabs and barnacles - their favorite foods. For best results, use a small, sharp hook with fiddler crabs or oysters. Fish straight down by structure and set the hook fast when you feel the lightest tap. It takes practice, but landing a big sheepshead is super rewarding.

Snook are one of our top inshore targets, known for explosive strikes and acrobatic fights. These sleek predators usually run 20-30 inches but can top 40 inches in the right spots. Look for them around mangroves, docks, and other structure in 3-6 feet of water. Spring and fall are prime seasons as water temps change. Snook put up an awesome battle on light tackle and make excellent table fare too. To land a big one, try free-lining live bait like pilchards or pinfish near cover during tide changes. Watch for that distinctive lateral line as they ambush prey. Remember, snook are temperature sensitive, so fish deep cuts on cold days or shallow flats when it's warm. Nothing beats the thrill of a big snook crushing a topwater at dawn.
